The eight week

This week I also worked for EcoVolt, I had to translate a brochure from english into german.

On Wednesday we enjoyed our evening in „Dicey’s Garden“. We drunk a lot and had some fun. On our last Day in Dublin Steven, Franzi and I wanted to drink our last cider at „O’Reillys“. There we met Bianca with a friend. We enjoyed the evening. Because of that we had to catch the AirCoach at 4am we went to bed to have some sleep for just one or two hours. In the end of these 8 weeks I can say, that I am really happy about the time in Dublin and about all the nice people I  met. If I had the chance to do that again, I would always do that!

The seventh week

Now I am working for another company in our building. It’s a company which installs radiators. Because that one employee is on holiday, I had to answer the phone calls. On Wednesday it was Hendriks birthday, so we went to „Dicey’s Garden“ where we met the rest of the Germans and had something to drink. On Friday we went to „O’Reillys“ and met Bianca. She is working in the same company like Mateusz and Florian. Saturday Steven and I had a relaxed day and in the evening we walked from Pub to Pub to find a nice one, but we ended at „O’Reillys“. On Sunday Steven, Franziska, Bianca and I did a free walking tour through the north of Dublin. After that we went to Bianca’s flat and got something to eat.

The sixth week in Dublin

On Wednesday my boyfriend and his sister arrived. We met in the City to eat and charge some money on our LeapCards. On Thursday we went to the old Jameson Distellery, it was really nice and at the end you got a drink for free. img_2771

We also did a „Viking splash tour“ on Friday. It’s a sightseeing tour with a bus that can drive on the road and on the river.  The next day we had to stand up early in the morning because we booked a tour to the Cliffs of Moher with the Paddywagon. We had a few stops and have seen really nice places. Here are some pictures:

On Sunday my boyfriend and his sister went back home, and I just cleaned our flat and bought something to eat. After that Lorin and I cooked ourself dinner.

The fifth week

This week was really special. On Wednesday I was working at the European headquarter of Facebook. We started with breakfast and then we began with our work. We had to wipe all the hard drives and I had to create an excellist for all these hard drives. It was a really special day with great food and drinks. After that working day I met the others from our group in „Dicey’s Garden“. On Friday one of the Italian students stole some old and broken mobile phones and then Joe had to kick him out. I was really shocked about that because my bag was also standing in the group room! At Friday afternoon, all German students arrived at our apartment, did some self made burger and got some drinks. It was a really relaxed Friday. On Saturday Steven and I went to the „Dundrum Shopping Centre“ and bought some stuff☺️. After that we met the other of our group at „O’Reilly’s“. Because Steven and I were too late to drive home by bus, we had to walk home and it toke us 1,5 hours. After that I slept like a Baby. On Sunday Steven, Felix and I wanted to do a free walking tour, but we were to late. Because we were too late for the free walking tour, we walked to the Dublin castle. We did a self guided tour and after that we had a good Irish dinner at „The Celt bar“.

The fourth week – halftime

Wow! Now we are four weeks in Dublin, the time flies. Now we are only five Germans and three Italian students in the company because the other one went home. This week was a really short week because of the bank holiday on Monday. On Friday we went to the „Pub O’Reilly’s“ to drink and enjoy the evening. After 12am my father and his girlfriend arrived and we were a little bit in trouble because my father forgot his hand luggage in the AirCoach. So we had to go to the bus station on the other side hoping that the same bus driver will come back with his luggage in the bus. So we waited for half an hour and then an AirCoach arrived. We were really lucky because it was the same bus with the same bus driver and he did not forget my father and gave him his luggage back. We were very happy about that because on the next day we had to woke up early. After breakfast we drove to the Wicklow Mountains and it’s a really nice place to stay. We walked a 10km way and have seen a really nice nature area, which you will never see in Germany like this.

To finish the day quite perfect I surprised my father with a diner at Jamie’s Italian. It’s a Restaurant from „Jamie Oliver“. My father loves his cooking style and so we ate at Jamie’s Italian and finished the day quite perfect! On Sunday my father and his girlfriend went back home because they had to work on Monday. So I brought them to the AirCoach to say Goodbye. In the Afternoon Steven and I went to the City Centre.

The third week in Dublin

Since Monday we have three new Italian students and now the one from Brazil is gone.

On Friday my mum arrived to visit me and to see Dublin. Because of the long time of her journey, she was very hungry and so we were eating burritos at „Burritos and Blues“. After that we were going to the Pub „Dicey’s garden“. We arrived early at home because my mum was really tired because of the jourey. The next day we started with a great breakfast with bacon, eggs and bread. After that we went into the City to shop a little bit with Steven. In the evening we cooked some meatballs. On Sunday we went to a Hop-on-hop-off Tour to see a lot of the City. We were really lucky by getting into the bus because the driver told us to sit on our seats without paying for the tour, so we saved €20 each. Today is bank holiday in Ireland, so we don’t have to work today. It was perfect for me and my mum because she was leaving today and I could bring her to the bus station, where the bus arrives to pick her up to the airport. After taking my mum to the bus station Steven, Nico, Florian, Lorin and I went to „Dun Laoghaire“ (it’s a seaport, 30 minutes away from our apartments).

The second week in Ireland

At my work I created an excellist, did the quality and assurance management of some computers and administrated some windows keys.

On Friday we started our weekend with a beer or aus we User to day a Cider in „Dicey’s Garden“, that is a nice option to start in the weekend! After that Friday Steven and me started the Saturday relaxed. We went to the Christ Church Cathedral and in front of the Church there was a junk market, so Steven bought himself some new leather bracelets. After that we went to the St. Patrick’s Cathedral. There was a dancing performance by children, which was very nice to see. After that we went to the „Rolling Donut“ and ate a really delicious and beautiful looking Donut.

In the evening the boys and I went to the city center to eat some ice cream and then we wanted to buy some alcohol at „Tesco“ but we didn’t notice that in Ireland they wouldn’t sell any alcohol after 10 o’clock. But it was already 10:10 pm. So we had to go home without any alcohol and relaxed before going to bed. On Sunday the boys and I visited Howth. If you ever will be in Dublin you have to go to Howth, it’s a really nice place to stay. Here are some pictures, so you will know what I am talking about:

The first week

Matheusz, Leon, Lorin and I drove together to our company. Because the company didn’t have a company nameplate outside of the building, we were not sure if we are in front of the correct building. So we had to ask someone, if there  was the company we were looking for. He said „yes“ and requested us to come in. Than we met Peter one of the owners of the company and he welcomed us. He asked us what we are doing in Germany and told us what the company is doing. Then he showed us the company rooms and the end of the story is that, we had a pool in one room. In this company we are 7 Germans, 1 Spanish and 1 Brazilian student. Then Joe, the other owner of the company, arrived and talked a lot with me to see how good my english was and what my work in Germany is about because he wanted me to do some office work for him. After that Joe was asking me to drive in the city center with him because he had to see a new client and he asked me to take some notes. After that we drove back to the company. And then the first day was over. It wasn’t as bad as I thought. I don’t want to talk all the time about what I am doing at my work because I think that isn’t so interesting. But the result at the end of the week was: very nice people and nice work. I think we will learn a lot and will have a lot of fun here. On Friday evening we went to the Pub „Diceys Garden“ until 10 pm, a beer cost only 2€ . On Saturday we all sleept as long as we could. Then some of us went to „Lidl“ to shop some foodstuff because our whole team did some self made burger. They were so delicious! The last day of the week Steven and me relaxed and went to the City Center because Steven had to buy some business clothes and I love to go shopping.

Our First Three Days in Dublin

My internship started at the 8th of July 2016. We flew from Berlin-Tegel to Dublin Airport at 11 o´clock. We arrived at 12:30 o´clock and then we waited for our suitcases. After this we drove with the AirCoach to our Apartment. Because we caught the wrong AirCoach we had to walk a lot. It was very difficult for me because we walked over shingle and lawn with our suitcases. After we arrived in our Apartment Oliver (the owner) welcomed us a little bit confused because he thought that we will arrive at the 9th of July 2016. He was searching for some Apartments for us. There were 2 boys rooms with 3 boys each and one girls room with us 4 girls. After that we went to buy some food at “Tesco”q because we needed something to drink and to eat. On Saturday the Girls, Steven and me walked around the City, to see a lot of Dublin. We were at St. Stephens Green (a park in the middle of the city) and in the National Museum of Ireland. At Sunday Steven and I looked where we have to work on Monday. Steven is working in a Hotel near the City Centre, so we arrived there first. It’s a nice Hotel. After that we arrived at my work. It’s in the north of Dublin in an industrial area. That was the reason why my first impression wasn’t the best. Because my company didn’t have a name plate outside, I wasn`t sure where my company was, so I had to wait until the next day. But a really good thing was that there was a Lidl directly in front of the Company.
